KUALA LUMPUR: An aide to a federal deputy minister is the subject of a sexual harassment complaint by an optician, who said he had secretly recorded a video of her underskirt when she was busy conducting an eye test on his boss.
According to a police report sighted by FMT, the optician was treating Deputy Home Minister Azis Jamman at an outlet in a Kuala Lumpur mall yesterday, when she noticed that a man, who was seated behind her, was holding up his mobile phone under her skirt.
A CCTV recording of the incident showed the man placing his phone strategically near the optician’s skirt as she was checking Azis’s eyesight.
“When I turned to face the screen beside me, I noticed a man recording something on a mobile phone. After viewing the CCTV recording, I discovered that the man had recorded a video from below my skirt,” the optician said in her police report.
When contacted, the police station where the report was filed denied there was such a complaint.
However, Azis confirmed the incident to FMT, adding that the officer had since been sacked.
“I cannot tolerate such behaviour. I am so shocked to see that video,” he said.
He said he had gone to the optician accompanied by his wife and aide.
On his request, Azis said his aide followed him to the consultation room.
“I brought my aide just in case because I did not want to be alone with another woman. I wanted my aide to be a witness, that is all,” he said.
But his “witness” was up to no good, and Azis said he confronted him later after viewing the CCTV recording.
“I have sacked him with immediate effect,” he added.
